Honey Creek Gems offers a wide variety of rocks and minerals. There’s something for every interest level, from the casual customer to the geology enthusiast. All rocks are sourced by owner Jimmie Gross though trusted dealers or chosen by attending wholesale shows.

This shop is unique because besides offering many different rocks, it offers a range of lapidary supplies. Rock tumblers line shelves and they also make great gifts for anybody with a habit of collecting rocks. Polishing cloths, cabbing machines, and rock hammers are also sold to help shape rocks to their full potential.

Originally from Minnesota, owner Jimmie Gross moved to the Quad Cities in 2006 and took ownership of Honey Creek Gems, which has been open since the 1980s. He runs the shop completely by himself and beyond general ownership responsibilities, he also serves as a lapidarist and silversmith. He is self-taught and makes almost all the jewelry sold in the store by hand, from cutting the gem to melding the settings.

Because of this, a variety of jewelry in many different price ranges are offered to the public. Customers are able to grab stone rings or wire-wrapped jewelry. Those looking for more rare items are able to find higher-priced jewelry in display cabinets by the cash register. The store also offers custom jewelry options where customers can bring in their own stones to be fitted.

From the curious customer to the seasoned geologist, Honey Creek Gems has a little something for everybody!
