John Deere Pavilion
1400 River Dr, Moline, IL 61265
The past, present, and future of farming
Initially opened in 1997, the John Deere Pavilion has since become a well-known stop in the Moline area. It features multiple equipment exhibits, from tractors to combines to lawn mowers, all for no entry fee. A few of the larger combines and tractors are even open to the public, allowing people to see behind the wheel of genuine John Deere equipment. The new, shiny equipment is compared to their antique counterparts, also available for viewing inside the pavilion.
Beyond equipment, there are also several interactive exhibits. There are touchscreen slideshows, games, and a movie screening highlighting global farming practices. The exhibits all cover the company’s past, present, and steps toward a brighter farming future. Tours are also available upon request that can be customized to visitors’ interests. In order to experience the exhibits in a different way, an app called Visit John Deere is currently available to download on Google Play and the App Store.
After exploring the equipment and learning more about the farming industry, there’s also the John Deere Store for visitors to browse. This covers all John Deere needs, from branded hats to belt buckles. There’s also a variety of children’s toys available to purchase.
The John Deere Pavilion serves as a physical representation of the corporation’s history in the Moline area, and was built as a part of the mission to revitalize the downtown area. The company has been in Moline since 1848, and this city also holds the oldest John Deere factory currently operating in its original location, known as the John Deere Seeding Group, established in the area in 1877.
If you’re ever exploring downtown Moline or want to learn more about John Deere, check out the Pavilion!
