Quad City Storm Hockey Team

TaxSlayer Center, Downtown Moline, IL

QC Storm has made its home in the Quad Cities since 2018, and has been growing in the ice hockey world. This local professional minor league hockey team is affiliated with the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL), and every home game is played at the TaxSlayer Center in Moline. Hockey season runs from October through April, and their game schedule can be found on their website.

Quad Cities Storm Hockey Team

Quad City Storm was created after the former QC minor league hockey team – the Mallards – ended after their 2017-18 season due to financial strain on the sole owner. Current QC Storm owner John Dawson bought what was formerly the Louisiana Ice Gators in the SPHL and Quad City Storm was created. Although COVID-19 had proven to be a challenge as they sat out during the 2020-21 season, the team still managed to make it to the semifinals during their 2021-22 season.

Brian Rothenberger has served as QC Storm president since 2020, but he’s been a part of the team since the start as their broadcast and communications manager. Originally from Florida, Rothenberger has made the Quad Cities his home the past few years, even meeting his wife here.

Since their start, QC Storm has given back nearly a quarter million dollars to the community, donating to local nonprofit organizations. To Rothenberger and QC Storm, giving back to the QC community is important because the support of their fans is what helped them survive missing the 2020-21 season. It’s why QC Storm continues to play.

Their mascot is appropriately named Radar, a black and white fox in a hockey uniform. The QC Storm logo is a tornado with a lightning stick, ranked one of the top 10 logos in the minor hockey leagues. Season ticket holders have tickets to all 28 home games during the season along with other perks like a 15% Concessions Discount and special events like attending a River Bandits game during the off-season. If you’re looking for thrilling action on the ice and a community team, Quad City Storm has you covered.
