Source Book Store

232 W. 3rd St, Davenport IA 52801

This historical location is bursting with a variety of media to meet many different interests. Previously owned by the Pekios family for 80 years, the legacy of the bookstore was handed down to Quad Cities native Carter Brown in 2020. The store originally began forming in the living room of George Pekios in 1939 in Moline, IL. Since then, the books have found their way to downtown Davenport and now occupy every free inch of a street-level building and its sprawling basement.

Source Book Store

The store carries an extensive assortment of books, from science fiction to military history. Along with gently used copies of books there are also rare collector’s items to be found in the shelves. Beyond books, the store also carries CD’s, vinyl records, comics, magazines and movies.

The books make their way into the store through one of two ways. The first is through donations, where people are able to receive cash for books they want to get off their shelves. The process of buying books brought into the store is more selective, but if people choose to donate stacks instead then everything will be taken in. The second way is through estate sales, where Brown sorts through books and other media to bring back to the store. Through his experience, he has learned to identify the value of many different books in order to offer accurate prices to collectors. The store also offers appraisal services for the curious ones who believe they’ve found something of value. Shipping on orders is also offered as well. Payments can be made on PayPal or by calling (563) 324-8941.

Buy sell or trade all in one place from books to cassette tapes and find your next favorite book at Source Book Store.
